Acupuncture Education Day is held yearly at the Florida State Capital to educate lawmakers, their staff and the public about the benefits of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine to the citizens fo Florida. We set up an AOM Health Fair in the Capital Rotunda and offer acupuncture treatments as well as visiting legislators.

This year FSOMA Cosponsoring Legislation to Cover Acupuncture for Chronic Pain

Representative Rene "Coach P" Plasencia in western Orange County is sponsoring the 
amendment to the FL Statute 456T. 

"Before prescribing an opioid as treatment for any condition that causes chronic nonmalignant pain, a health care practitioner shall refer or prescribe any of the following non pharmaceutical intervention therapies to a patient based on the practitioner's clinical judgment and the availability of the treatment: acupuncture by an acupuncturist licensed under chapter 457, osteopathic services by an osteopathic physician licensed under chapter 459, chiropractic services by a chiropractor licensed under chapter 460, occupational therapy by an occupational therapist licensed under part III of chapter468, or massage therapy by a massage therapist licensed under chapter 480."
